OHIP does not cover the costs of ADHD assessments, but some private insurance plans provide partial or even full coverage. It’s best to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage and any requirements they may have for reimbursement.
If your child is diagnosed with ADHD, the next steps typically include creating a personalized plan that may involve behavioural strategies, educational support, and possibly medication, depending on your child’s needs. We’ll work with you to provide recommendations and connect you with resources, such as coaching, therapy, or school accommodations, to help your child thrive both academically and personally.
Consider having your child assessed for ADHD/ADD if they consistently struggle with focus, impulsivity, restlessness or following instructions, especially when these challenges affect their daily life or confidence. Assessments often start around ages 6 to 7, when school demands make symptoms more noticeable, but younger children can also be assessed if their symptoms are already impacting them.
