Sonja Knaus is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) who obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo in 2020. Sonja also obtained her Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2023, where she received training and experience in psychotherapy and music psychotherapy. Sonja has worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, pediatric rehabilitation centres, schools, private clinics, community mental health organizations, long-term care, adult day programs, and more. Sonja is an ADHD coach and therapist at Springboard Clinic. In her role, she helps children, adolescents, and adults realize their strengths and areas to address, so that people can live more enriching lives, and manage overwhelming emotions and stressors more effectively. Sonja is passionate about using music as a bridge to support expression, communication, social wellbeing, and regulation. “Almost all people respond to music. Music is an open-sesame, and if you can use it carefully and appropriately, you can reach into that person’s potential for development.”
