Pandemic Parenting Tips: Picking battles and a few of our favourite things

If you are parenting during COVID-19, you are certainly being pushed into new challenges, with less support and more stress. During this time, it is more important than ever to stop, reflect, connect with those around you, and reassess your family goals and priorities.

Our most important advice right now is to pick your battles because you just cannot do it all.

Avoid comparing your parenting or family life to pre-covid times, and work with your crew to reassess what you want to focus on, for now. Here is a quick article on picking battles as a parent and how it can improve your mindset.

Parenting During Pandemic FbookAnd, here are a few of our favourite things to help navigate this time:

1. Audio books (Harry Potter, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe....). Sign up for and find stories that will help your children be transported to other times and places, while giving you some space too.

2. The Marco Polo app. This is a great video messaging app that allows you to stay connected over video with people that you love, when you just can’t find the time (or sometimes energy) to call directly.

3. Facetime reading time with extended family. Book 30 minute times with family members (especially grandparents!) over facetime or zoom as a way for your children to have special bonding time and stay close to their bigger social circles.
