A focus on providing early intervention, school planning and parent support, rather than a diagnosis or label for children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 years to 6 years old. $3,500
Many doctors and psychologists refuse to assess children before the age of 5 or 6. And they have good reason. ADHD is a developmental disorder, so when I child is still in preschool or kindergarten, they still have lots of time to grow and develop. Labeling a child too early could create unnecessary worry for parents and there is always the concern that the child’s self-esteem may be impacted. However, preventative planning and support can be extremely impactful.
Our Preschool Assessment provides parents with the opportunity for early intervention, which we believe can be powerful for children and their parents, caregivers and educators. With that said, we approach assessments for children under 6-years-old with a flexible lens. We aim to identify strengths and challenges rather than identify a diagnosis in order to equip parents with information and recommendations that allow them to make more informed decisions about their child’s academic future and to put in place family support.
The Preschool Assessment includes three separate appointments of 3-hour testing blocks and takes approximately 4-6 weeks for a completed report. Please note these are estimates, as we will adjust our assessment with respect for the child’s need for breaks.
