Being diagnosed with ADHD isn’t about what you can’t do. It’s about empowering and encouraging you to do the things you can do, even better. The first step is to understand your brain, and how it is affected by ADHD.

ADHD affects people of all ages and is typically identified and defined by symptoms of:

  • Inattention
  • Hyperactivity
  • Impulsivity

As important as it is to recognize these symptoms, the bigger question is what’s causing them, because once we understand the cause, we can change the outcome.

Understanding your Brain

You planned to, but forgot. You tried, but gave up. With ADHD, an uneven supply of neurotransmitters (Dopamine, Norepinephrine) leads to inconsistent communication across neurons, particularly in the Prefrontal Cortex. This causes uneven waves of stimulation and creates an off/on experience with your motivation, focus, level of engagement, and productivity. At Springboard Clinic, we work to define and isolate the cognitive blockers that cause the disconnect between your intentions and your actions so that we can develop a customized Coaching and Treatment strategy to help you thrive.

An important part of your ADHD Treatment involves working to separate your identity from your symptoms. Your Springboard Coach will help you understand who you are versus the symptoms you experience, and how these symptoms affect you in different parts of your life.
